Lachlan’s Line Bridge, Sydney, NSW
Lachlan’s Line Bridge is a combined pedestrian and cycle way that connects the Macquarie Park Precinct to the North Ryde metro station. As the area is renowned for its strong science and technology sector, the bridge was designed to mimic a double helix.
Project Design Brief
Removing stormwater runoff quickly from the 170m long bridge was important for the safety of cyclists and pedestrians. With minimal depth to work above the bridge’s beams, designers needed a compact yet effective drainage system.
ACO's Solution
- Wexel 150x150mm push-fit floor drains
- Based on the site-specific catchment hydraulics, ACO’s Technical Services Department provided designers with hydraulic data to confirm the grates could capture the runoff
Benefits
- The grade 304 stainless steel cast grate provides long-term durability
- The hinged grate ensures that the grate cannot be lost when accessed for maintenance
