Albert Cotter Walkway, Moore Park, NSW
Albert Cotter Walkway is named after a famous cricketer and WW1 ANZAC and was built in response to the need to provide a safe and direct route for over 900 pedestrians and cyclists that cross Anzac Parade every day. The walkway provides a link between Sydney’s CBD and the popular attractions at Moore Park, Sydney Cricket Ground, Allianz Football Stadium, Fox Studios and the Entertainment Quarter. The walkway is 6 metres wide and 440 metres long with helical ramps providing a gentle slope onto the bridge.
Project Design Brief
To meet the short delivery time of 14 months from concept design to the bridge opening in time for the 2015 Cricket World Cup, the bridge was prefabricated and erected in seven pre-assembled modules. A compact drainage system was needed due to the restricted depth of the slender curved steel box beams and a cost effective, efficient drain solution was required to keep the walkway dry and safe for the pedestrians and cyclists.
